Tangy Waldorf salad recipe

A Waldorf-salad is a perfect choice if you are expecting guests and want to make a really special salad.

Waldorf salad


• 3 tablespoons sour cream
• 3 tablespoons yoghurt
• 5 tablespoons lemon juice
• salt, pepper
• 1 pinch cayenne pepper
• 1 teaspoon honey
• 1 pinch ground ginger
• 300 g celeriac
• 4 sour apples
• 80 g walnuts
• 3 tablespoons heavy cream


For the dressing, mix the yoghurt with 3 tablespoons lemon juice, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. In a deep dish, mix 2 tablespoons lemon juice with honey and ginger. Then, slice apples and celeriac thinly and dip enough slices in the honey ginger lemon juice to cover the bottom of a large plate. Add the rest of the slices to the dressing. Roast the walnuts in a pan without any oil added, and let them cool. Add the heavy cream to the salad. Arrange the dipped apple and celeriac slices on a plate, scoop the salad on top of them, and then sprinkle the salad with the roasted walnuts.
