Homemade salted caramel cream: delicious and perfect as a gift

Salted caramel cream is easy to make and can be added to any cake.

The recipe takes just 20 minutes to make and, packaged nicely, it makes a great Christmas gift. You can drizzle salted caramel cream on top of cookies or pancakes, it’s delicious with ice cream or fruit, and if you have a sweet tooth, it might taste best spooned on its own.

Ingredients for 12 servings

  • 200 g sugar
  • 600 g butter
  • 250 ml whipped cream
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Preparation

Melt the sugar, without stirring, in a tall saucepan over low heat until caramel-colored. This should take about 15 minutes.

In the meantime, heat the cream and cut the butter into cubes.

When the sugar is runny and brown, add the butter, stir until melted and smooth, then remove from the heat.

Pour in the warm cream, season with salt, give it one last stir and spoon into glasses.

Salted caramel cream will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
