According to US scientists the best time to drink coffee is in the morning between 9:30 and 11:30. Steven Millet neurologist explains that the cortisol hormone responsible for regulating the body’s internal clock and helping to stay awake is the most active between 8 and 8 a.m.; therefore it’s optimal to drink a cup of coffee after this time, in order to enhance further cortisol production.
The specialist also explained that if coffee intake happens when the level of cortisol is high, the result may be caffeine tolerance, which will make the morning coffee ineffective and we will need to drink more and more cups during the day to keep ourselves alert.
The ideal time for drinking coffee is an average estimation. Those persons, who wake up earlier or later, need to add 2 and half hours to the time of awakening.
