Not all children on this Earth are equally happy; many of them are deprived of even basic conditions for well-being. Even though material things such as clothes, toys and food are often lacking commodities for these children, their happiness takes on other, very special forms. For the children in the video, living in a ghetto in Uganda, the joy of living is manifested by the joy of dancing.
The video shows a group of boys and a girl who seem to perform an improvised dance on the backdrop of the most famous singer’s song in Uganda, Eddy Kenzo. The song “Sitya Loss”, in free translation meaning “I’m not afraid to lose” is the perfect song for these children to show off their talent and agility.
The movements of the arms, the traditional African-style dance steps and the determination of these children leave us speechless. They live in a harsh world, but despite all the hardships they can still enjoy it. Each boy wants to show the others that his dance is more expressive. At one point the boys make room for a little girl who, although smaller, demonstrates the same extraordinary talent. At the end of the video everyone dances together, proving once again that simple things are what make us truly happy.
