Here is a touching example of the power of community support. Adriana Lopez, one of the favorite teachers at an elementary school in Staten Island, New York, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and the last school choir performance was held in her honor.
The children sang the song “I’m Gonna Love You through It” by Martina McBride to the teacher, who listened with tears in her eyes.
This is not the first time that the school choir supported persons in difficult moments. In December 2012, in the Sandy Hook school shootout 20 students and six adult educational staff were killed; at that time, the choir sang an anthem in honor of the academic institution.
These children certainly are aware of the importance of a community in supporting, encouraging and comforting those who suffer, and as adults they probably won’t pass by carelessly those in need.
