Melomakarona is a greatly appreciated Greek dessert.

Ingredients:
• 360 ml oil
• 200 g of sugar
• 80 ml orange juice
• 60 ml cognac
• 360 g flour
• 200 g semolina
• 1 teaspoon bicarbonate
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
For the syrup:
• 480 ml water
• 400 ml sugar
• 600 g honey
• 250 g walnuts
• 1 stick of cinnamon
• 3-4 cloves
Preparation:
1. Mix the flour, the semolina, the sugar and the spices and then add the mixture of oil, brandy and orange juice in which you have already dissolved the baking soda.
2. Knead until the dough gets a good consistency for shaping. Grease your hands and shape the donuts, flattening them slightly.
3. Place the donuts on a tray lined with baking paper and bake them for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
4. For the syrup, boil the water, the sugar, the honey, the cinnamon and the cloves until the syrup becomes smooth.
5. Soak the donuts in syrup, and then roll them in ground nuts.
