These small but strong seeds kill the antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria, heals a body which has been contaminated during a chemical weapon attack and helps the regeneration of pancreas cells in diabetic patients; yet, very few people know about the very existence of it.
The healing properties of Nigella Sativa seeds have been known for millennia, but they have been forgotten by today’s consumerist society. In the English culture, the plant is called fennel flower, nutmeg flower, black caraway, Roman coriander and black cumin.
The earliest mentioning of this plant comes from the ancient Egypt; its oil (“black oil”) has been found even in Tutankhamun’s grave. In the Arabic culture, the seeds are known as “the seeds of blessing”. It is also interesting that the prophet Mohammed said these seeds are a remedy to every disease except for death.
In medical biology literature, 458 publications refer to the many healing properties of Nigella Sativa since 1964. It has the following healing properties:
- Painkiller
- Anti-bacterial
- Anti-inflammatory
- Anti-ulcer
- Anti-cholinergic
- Antifungal
- Reduces high blood pressure
- Antioxidant
- Antispasmodic
- Kills viruses
- Expands the trachea
- Anti-diabetic
- Protector of the liver
- Reduces high blood pressure
- Increases sensitivity to insulin
- Triggers interferon
- Acts against Leukotriene
- Protects the kidneys
- Inhibits the alpha-necrosis factors in tumors
The black seeds have been proved to have very special medical benefits:
In case of type-2 diabetes: take 2 grams of seeds daily leads to a lower blood sugar level, a reduced resistance to insulin, to an increases beta-cell function and to a reduced amount of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
In case of infection with Helicobacter Pylori: black seeds exert a clinically useful anti-Helicobacter Pylori activity, similar to the three-way eradication therapy, which is usually administered in such cases.
Epilepsy: Nigella seeds have a traditionally acknowledged antispasmodic property of releasing cramps. A 2007 study on children suffering from epilepsy found that essence made from black seeds considerably reduced the severity of the seizures.
High blood pressure: mild hypertonia can be reduced by consuming 100 and then 200 mg black seed essence twice a day for 2 months.
Asthma: thymoquinone found in black seeds is one of the main compounds. Its effect is better than the effect of asthma medications based on fluticasone.
Acute tonsillopharyngitis: in case of viral inflammation of the tonsils and the pharynx, black seed capsules significantly reduce the pain and remove the need for painkillers.
In case of a chemical weapon attack: in a randomized, placebo-controlled human experiment it was found that boiled black seed extract improved breathing and reduced respiratory symptoms such as wheezing in patients injured by chemical weapons. Thus the need for other medication was reduced.
Cancer of the large intestine: studies on the cells found that the effect of black seed extract surpasses the effect of the chemo agent 5 fluorouracil, with a much higher safety profile. Experiments performed on animals proved that black seed oil is a significant inhibitor in the development of large intestine cancer in rats, without observable side effects.
MRSA: in clinically isolated cases, it has been proven that black seeds have an antibacterial effect against the methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus.
Dependence on opiates: a study has examined 35 persons addicted to opiates. A long term black seed treatment proved effective in treating this addiction.
A seed is a micro-world in which life is concentrated into a miniature holographic fragment, and it points to the gigantic and immortal power of the world.
