This butter croissant recipe is absolutely wonderful. It is made from healthier ingredients than croissants available in stores; for example, it doesn’t contain margarine. These croissants are so amazing that you might never buy them from the store again if you try the recipe.
Ingredients for 12 croissants
- 500 g flour
- 350 g butter
- 130 mL water
- 100 mL milk
- 50 g sugar
- 10 g dried yeast
- 10 g salt
- 1 egg
Preparation
For this recipe you will need to make a pastry-type dough which also contains yeast. Add the sugar to the milk and mix in the yeast to activate it.
Mix the flour and the salt, add the egg, gradually add the water and knead. Mix with the activated yeast and knead some more until you obtain a medium-soft dough.
Fold the dough, spread on some butter and then roll out the dough. Repeat the procedure three times to create the layers of butter and dough typical to croissants. The procedure may seem complicated but it is in fact not difficult and goes fast.
Cut the dough into triangles, roll up and shape the croissants, and leave them at room temperature until they double in size. Once the rising is complete, bake them at high heat for 10 minutes and then lower the temperature to medium and bake for 15 minutes more. The croissants will turn out very tasty, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Serve them with hot chocolate and jam or honey.
