Very few homes are completely draft-free, and drafts can turn into a real problem during cold weather. The inside temperature in a home shouldn’t ever fall below 18 °C, especially if there are children in the home.
In most cases drafts occur because the doors and windows don’t properly fit in their frame. In this case you should use some screwdrivers and other tools to fix this problem, so in closed position the windows and doors press tightly into the frame. If drafts still remain a problem, then probably the insulation should be changed. For this, remove the old insulation and wipe off the groove with a cloth soaked in alcohol. After this, you may add the new insulation.
How to replace insulation in case of plastic windows or doors
You may start work only when the frame grooves are clean and dry. Start gluing the new insulation on the top part of the window and gradually move down. Glue the insulation on the bottom frame as well. At the end of installing the insulation, make sure to check that it fits into the grooves perfectly.
