What is the secret hidden in a glass of green smoothie?
The benefits of green smoothies are incredible. The combination of fruits and green leaves (vegetables, herbs, etc.) is not only tasty but also very healthy, easily digestible and full of nutrients. Drinking a glass of smoothie on empty stomach in the morning gives you a start for a perfect day.
Fruits contain many vitamins and organic minerals easily assimilated by the body. Green leaves, in addition to vitamins and minerals, contain a huge amount of chlorophyll, a very important and beneficial substance to the human body. Chlorophyll helps immensely in oxygenating the blood, and in an environment of well-oxygenated healthy cells abnormal cells will no longer develop.
Chlorophyll is a substance that closely resembles human blood in its chemical composition, which is why any smoothie made from fruit and green leafy vegetables can be considered a health infusion and a blood purifier.
Tasty smoothie recipes come in endless combinations. No matter what fruits and greens you choose, they are easy to prepare, and the ingredients are readily and quickly metabolized. This time I share with you only one smoothie recipe, which happens to be my favorite these days.
Green leafy spinach smoothie
Ingredients for 2 cups
- 1-2 apples (ideal if less sour) washed and peeled – unless organic
- 1 banana
- 1 bunch spinach leaves
- Water
Preparation
Wash and peel the apples (if you use organic apples, keep the peel), chop them into small pieces and add them to the blender.
Remove the peel of the banana, break it into 3-4 pieces and add to the blender.
Wash the spinach leaves, tear them into smaller pieces, and add them over the fruit in the blender.
Add about an inch or so water and mix the ingredients for a few seconds. If you find the smoothie too thick, add more water, until you get the desired texture.
If you find the smoothie too sweet, add some more lemon juice – approx. 1-2 tablespoons.
Spinach is rich in essential minerals (iron, sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, iodine, etc.) and vitamins (particularly vitamin A, vitamin B-complex and vitamin C).
This smoothie is ideal to drink quite often (especially in the morning on an empty stomach) if you suffer from anemia, hypertension, asthenia or constipation.
