This donut recipe is healthier than the traditional one, and more convenient to prepare. The result is just as delicious, fluffy and appetizing than the original.
Ingredients
- 115 mL milk
- 1 egg
- 40 g sugar
- 50 ml oil
- 4 g yeast
- 1 teaspoon dry organic orange peels
- A dash of salt
- The seeds from 1 vanilla pod
- 275 g wheat flour
- Chocolate, ground cinnamon, sugar etc. for topping
Preparation
You may use a bread-making machine to knead the dough, placing the liquid ingredients first and then the solid ones, according to the instruction manual. Add the yeast last, so it doesn’t come in contact with the liquids.
After the dough has risen and the program ended, roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Use two different sized cutters to cut out the donuts (for example a stainless steel ring and a bottle stopper).
Place the donuts on a baking tray lined with paper at some distance from one another, as they will grow up while baking.
Allow the dough to rise in the pan for another 30 min. Keep the tray protected from air drafts. For example, you may place the tray in the closed, cold oven.
Bake the donuts bake at moderate temperature (180 degrees Celsius) until brown and firm to the touch.
Allow the donuts to cool, and then glaze them with melted chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla sugar or any topping of your choice.
