This is one of the best apple and date pastry recipe ever. You have to try it.
Ingredients
- 1 package pastry sheets (I had 4 sheets, 125 g)
- 500 g apples
- 200 g dates
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- vanilla
- cinnamon
- margarine for greasing
Preparation
Grease a pan with margarine and preheat the oven to 200ºC.
Grate the apples on a coarse grater and chop up the dates. Heat them up with the sugar, the vanilla, the cinnamon and 3-4 tablespoons of water added. Mix occasionally until the juice is all boiled away, and then remove from the heat.
Lay the first piece of pie, grease it with melted margarine, and then place a second sheet on top and grease it too. Add half of the apple mixture and roll up the sheets. Proceed the same way with the other two pastry sheets.
Place the two pastries in a baking pan. Brush them with margarine and bake them for about 30 minutes or until they turn crisp. Brush them with margarine again while still hot.
