Gluten is a protein that may be found in cereals such as wheat, barley and rye. Gluten is harmful for those who have a disorder called celiac disease. How do you know whether you have this disorder?
1. Gastrointestinal problems
Symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea and constipation regardless of what you eat may be signs that your organism doesn’t tolerate gluten.
2. Difficulty in absorbing vitamins
If a person is intolerant or sensitive to gluten, the stomach doesn’t absorb essential nutrients form food very well. Usually iron deficiency leads to the discovery of gluten intolerance.
3. Skin eruptions
Keratosis pilaris and dermatitis herpetiformis are skin problems that appear as a result of exposure to gluten. Both skin diseases cause very unpleasant cutaneous eruptions on the arms, face, posterior, elbows and the hair line.
4. Migraines
Headaches are the symptom of many health problems. However, when they are combined with diarrhea, iron deficiency and skin irritation, headaches clearly signal gluten intolerance. Usually, these headaches appear an hour or two after food containing gluten has been consumed.
5. Articular pain
Gluten intolerance causes inflammations in the body. Articular pain, often diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis, is in fact a sign of gluten intolerance.
6. Lactose Intolerance
If you have digestive problems due to lactose, you may suffer from gluten intolerance as well.
7. Chronic fatigue
Similarly to cases of migraine, constant fatigue can be the symptom of many disorders. However, again, if fatigue is combined with gastrointestinal problems, don’t ignore it.
