There is a quickly spreading video on the Net that presents an astonishing and spectacular trick by using a piece of wood. If you take a look at the photo, you can see the nail driven into the wood in a very unusual position, in the middle of a piece of wood. On neither side there is a visible sign that a driller or glue was used – all the teeth belong to the same, uncut piece of wood.

As we saw it in the video, the wood becomes soft when immersed in hot water, and it was as easy to squish as red-hot iron. Of course, we would probably have never realized this was possible. At any rate, we had our study of materials lesson for today, if we were absent from school when this feature was taught.
