It started out as a very calm day at the Brazilian Arrayal do Cabo beach, as many tourists were enjoying a quiet walk. The weather was beautiful, the waves were gently rolling, and calmness dominated the landscape.
As you can see in the following recording, some commotion starts happening in the sea. Within a short time it becomes clear that a group of dolphins are floating towards the shore on the waves. This in itself was an awesome sight, but what happened next was simply incredible.
About thirty dolphins swam so close to shore that they became trapped in the shallow water, not being able to retreat.
People were watching stunned as the intelligent aquatic mammals struggled to wiggle back into deeper water. Some of the onlookers ran to help them. Fortunately the animals weren’t very heavy, so the rescuers were able to grab their tails and drag them back into the water, thus saving their lives.
