A diet rich in nuts reduces the risk of mortality and cancer, proved a team of US researchers in a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
According to Mediafax, the study confirms other researches that have indicated the fact that regular consumption of nuts reduces the risk of common health problems such as heart strokes, colon cancer and type-2 diabetes.
‘Nuts used to be dismissed because of their high fat content. Now, two decades after, they are recognized as health foods. They are, indeed, rich in fats, but these are healthy fats’, declared Jeffrey Blumberg, a member of Boston Nutrition Research Institute.
It is possible that those individuals who like nuts are thinner and are at a lower risk of obesity.
