The Effects of a Hug on the Body

A hug is capable of miracles. Did you know that hugging is not only a love gesture, but also a remedy to some symptoms?

Researches claim that if you hug someone you love, your health will improve.

The researchers of the University of Vienna has conducted a research on how hugging affects the human body. As it turned out, one of the effects is that the body starts producing oxytocin, a hormone that lowers blood pressure, stress and anxiety, and it improves memory.

But all these start happening only if one hugs a close friend, claim the researchers of the university. If you only hug someone to be polite, the results are the exact opposite.

What is oxytocin?

Oxytocin is produced in the hypothalamus, and it is mainly responsible for social behavior. It strengthens bonding between closely related people – parents and children, and spouses. The substance, also called love hormone, also plays an important role during love making, as it is responsible for the development of orgasm, and the happy, floating state afterwards.

Women’s body produces this hormone during childbirth and breastfeeding, and it ensures the forming of the bonding between the baby and her mother. Moreover, the researchers also concluded that persons who often hug their beloved have a kinder personality, because hugging makes them more empathetic.

Don’t allow your children to grow up without being hugged every single day! Hugging has huge benefits!

Now, go and hug someone you love!

„Hugging serves you to show others that you love them without saying a word.”
