How to make fresh tomato sauce from scratch

You can make a very tasty tomato sauce in minutes. Forget about store-bought ketchup and take a look at this recipe.

We realize that ketchup is very tasty, and it’s very difficult to choose something else instead. But if you take a look at the list of the ingredients on the ketchup bottle, you will find it that you can actually live without it. However, you don’t have to resign to tomato sauce, as you can make a much healthier version of it at home.

Tomato sauce is the best if you make it from our own homegrown tomatoes. However, if you don’t grow tomatoes, find a local producer. The sauce is prepared cold, so it is much healthier, you don’t have to waste time on cooking and the nutrients will be much better preserved.

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil

Preparation

Wash the tomatoes, cut them in halves and grate them. Press the flesh against the grater and squeeze until you are left with only the skin in your hand. Discard the skin.

Season with salt and pepper and then add a little olive oil. If you have fresh basil, you can add some, as this herb goes very well with tomatoes.
